Challenges:

1. Older equipment
Most of the equipment at JES that is not in the lab is beyond its normal life expectancy. This includes classroom "pods" of three computers each. The equipment is not on a timely replacement schedule, and it is not always appropriate to repair it.

2. Infrastructure plan (How many computers is JES supposed to have and in what configurations?) Please see the JSD Technology Plan


Steps planned for FY 2008:

1. Install 8 new MacBooks, remove older Ibooks to JMS
2. Install large wall or ceiling mount screens
3. Install a large LCD in the parent's area

Steps planned for FY 2009:

  • Install additional MacBooks for a classroom set in the cart
  • Replace secretaries Computers
  • AV carts for early grades
  • Remove older iMacs from MS lab and replenish the mini labs with these computers
  • Use a few of the older iMacs from MS lab for Rob Taylor to use at MS for MS and HS students.
  • Use any leftover iMacs from MS lab for Rob Taylor in ES.
  • Install LCD plate in Kristel Anuszewski's room.
  • Get projector in Bob Fitzgerald's room to work and put wires/table etc. to his specifications.
  • Get House series to work at ES for Carol.
  • Deb Farrington has moved her computer table and needs a longer network cable so they can go online. Would you please get one for her? She is in the Kindergarten wing, furthest away from the office and closest to the door to the front parking lot.

Orders:
  • One more KVM unit (IOGEAR 8 Port)
  • Cables for new KVM
  • Apple Lease
  • White box PCs and servers (backup servers, ADS)
  • Cabinet for JMS backup
